I am a solicitor in the City of London using my 40 years of experience as a partner in two London-based law firms to advise clients on domestic and international matters across various sectors and regions. I have a particular focus on China but have worked extensively in India, UAE, Mongolia, West and sub-Saharan Africa, where I have established strong relationships and networks with governments, businesses, and investors.
For many years I have worked to promote the legal services of the City internationally and have been a consultant in law firms in Hong Kong and Ghana and work closely with law firms across China. I am also a mediator in the Belt & Road Mediation Centre in Beijing, where we help to resolve disputes arising from the Belt & Road initiative, the infrastructure and trade project involving over 60 countries. I am a member of the Law Society, a director of the China Britain Business Council, and support a number of charities.
I am passionate about facilitating cross-cultural communication and collaboration, I believe that the best way to serve my clients is to travel to their locations, understand their objectives, and offer holistic and practical solutions for their businesses.
The work that is done by the Livery in general is of great interest to me and I particularly take an interest in the companies that support and maintain our ancient craft heritage as I firmly believe those skills cannot be allowed to disappear.
I have been married to Barbara for 45 years and we have two sons, one of whom has followed me into the Wheelwrights, and I have hopes for my granddaughter – but she is not two yet so there is a way to go. When not engaged in Livery or business matters, I enjoy playing golf (very badly) travelling the world and cooking.
